I have been the Executive Director of Far West Agribusiness Association for a little over 2 years. Prior to this, I spent my whole career in Agriculture, beginning in the Seed Industry. I attended the University of California – Davis where I intended to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine but fell in love with plants, so I took a different direction.
Graduating with a BS degree in Genetics and a Minor in Plant Science, I entered the Seed world, working in numerous roles over the years from Product Development, Market Development, Product Management, R&D, Sales, and Executive Recruiting. I had the privilege of traveling all over the world in my career and feel so blessed for those experiences and opportunities.
Taking this role at Far West has allowed me to explore a part of the industry I never dreamed I would be a part of. We are a 5-state non-profit organization that works on legislative issues involving agriculture. Our mission is to protect and support our members and their customers from legislation that would in turn impact the way they do business. I am now able to combine the areas of my career that I have enjoyed the most – Politics, Sales, People, event planning, and giving back to the industry that has given me so much.
My greatest achievements over the course of my career have been when I meet people I have helped, and they make a point of coming up to me to introduce themselves and thank me. It is not about the number of awards that line your shelf, it is about the lives you impact and help along the way. My customers have been my lifeline in the ups and downs of my career and I thank each and everyone for helping me be a better person.
I am passionate about a lot of things, and if you want someone who jumps in with both feet and tackles a cause like a pit bull, well, that is me! I am a strong voice for my conservative values and will defend our constitutional rights to the grave. I believe in God, America, and most importantly my family!
I am the proud mother of 3 adult children and the wife of 34 years to my wonderful husband. We are all blessed with the ability to spend time together as a family and I am looking forward to seeing our family grow!
When I am not at work, I love camping, riding my bike, and traveling.
My long-term goal when I retire is to take a year to travel around the US, without a plan, just go! I also plan to walk the Camino de Santiago – the French Way – all 480 miles!
Margaret Jensen hired me in April of 2022 when I was recovering from foot surgery. At first, I wanted to move back to my hometown and reached out to Margaret for any local job listings, which organically turned into joining Far West. At the time, I was working two jobs and going to school full-time at Eastern Oregon University where I obtained a bachelor's Degree in Rangeland Animal Relations with a minor in Global Agribusiness Marketing. At EOU, Oregon State University partners with the school to provide an Agricultural Sciences co-operative program where I served as an Ambassador and competed in collegiate Trapshooting.
Being born and raised in Weiser, Idaho I have an extensive background in Agricultural systems and an understanding of livestock systems. I grew up in a ranching family who homesteaded the Owhyee desert and western Idaho areas, as I am the 4th generation of Irish and German cattlemen. At the age of 14, my first job started in a local butcher shop where I learned how to scrub gut buckets and operate a knife. Throughout college, I continued working in butcher shops and met a variety of producers in Idaho and eastern Oregon. During the summers, I was a wildland firefighter, worked on harvest crews, and trained horses.
Although I have always had a labor-intensive job, I am thrilled to be the Marketing and Events Coordinator for Far West. Today's Agriculture industries are rapidly changing and I am lucky to be a part of an organization that works to protect agriculture and our company's interests.
In the last 8 years, my greatest accomplishment is being an NCAA Collegiate Women's basketball official. Since I was in High school, I have officiated basketball, which has now turned into more than a side hustle! Above all, officiating is not just about basketball but about professional development, growth, conflict mitigation, and becoming the best version of yourself. Thankfully, I manage to have a full-time job and officiate basketball, I couldn't be happier.
My future goals consist of paying off student loans ( I am one of those crazy Dave Ramsey people), buying a nice horse, and maybe one day a house, ya know... just trying to figure out life at 24.
