FWAA Scholarship program

FWAA NEWSLETTER

The Far West Agribusiness Association scholarship program has been designed to provide outstanding high school and collegiate undergraduate students of our members with a chance to pursue their educational goals in college. There will be two separate selection pools, one for graduating high school seniors and one for current college students. Scholarships are one year in length and will be awarded in amounts no less than $1,000 per student. The quantity and value of the scholarships awarded will be at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

Eligibility Requirements:

FWAA members pursuing a degree from a college or university in the United States
Children and grandchildren of FWAA members or FWAA staff pursuing a degree from a college or university in the United States

Applications must be submitted online in 2023.

Each submission must include the following for consideration:

Completed online application form
Upload of Resume (no more than 2 pages)
Upload of Transcript(s) (official transcripts are required if selected for the award)
Upload three (3) Letters of Recommendation from non-relatives
- 1 academic, 1 supervisor, 1 character reference
2-Part essay:
- The 300-word essay: Discuss your personal connection to agriculture and your career plans/goals.
- The 300-word essay: Choose one current legislative topic from the Far West Agribusiness Association’s geography (WA, OR, ID, UT, NV). Discuss the legislation and how it impacts your local farm or community and provide insight into a potential outlook or solution.
  - Students need to research the issues pertinent to the states listed above, do some research, and craft a 300-word essay. Students will not need access to a specific FWAA leg. update.
